Elsfield Manor, Oxford.
28th December, 1933
John Edgar, Esq., Crichton Royal, Dumfries.
My dear John,
What a fool I am to have sent you my Scott when I had already sent it you. Is there any other book of mine, or anybody else's that you fancy?
I don't think you ought to go to Edinburgh, but I do think you ought to come to Oxford as soon as you feel fit to travel. It is not really a hard journey, and I am convinced you will never get really well as long as you are at the Crichton. One of your cousins could possibly come with you as well as your sister. I long to hear that the doctor thinks you are strong enough to move. We will do everything we can at Oxford for your comfort.
Yours ever, John Buchan
