My dear John,
If you get newspaper cuttings, you may
be puzzled to understand what I said
to the Hutcheson boys on Thursday - it is
totally misrepresented in the Herald. What
I did say was that our much maligned
generation had produced the greatest
name in the Roll of the School: that
I could not tell them to go away
and write works of imaginative
