St. Stephen's House, London, S.W.1.
12th July, 1933
My own darling
I got up to London at half past four yesterday, and went to the House. My little Bird Bill comes on next Tuesday morning.
I saw Chopper, but I am afraid he cannot come to our dinner.
Then I went to dine with The Club - a very pleasant dinner. I talked to Kipling, Dunedin, Crewe and George Trevelyan. I went back to the House to hear Walter Elliot reply on Agriculture and to take part in the division.
Today I am lunching with Mrs. Copeland at the House to meet about a hundred Boy Scouts from the Colonies. Then all afternoon I have a Pilgrim Trust meeting, and am dining with Syb. Glyn.
It is not very comfortable weather, and the Oxford and Cambridge match has become a farce. I hope it will be good tomorrow for the showing of the garden.
I expect you to call for me at St. Stephen's Club tomorrow evening a little after seven o'clock. Do rest all you can.
Much love. from John
