St. Stephen's House, London, S.W.1.
8th March 1934.
My own darling
I got your letter this morning. You say "Tuesday the 12th" for the Morrison' s dinner, but Monday is the 12th! I am engaged that night (Monday) to dine at Londonderry House, but can arrange with Circe to dine with the Morrisons and then go there later. I have another engagement on Tuesday, but I could cancel that easily. You must be more careful about your dates.
I return Car's letter. I am so relieved that she is taking the post, but we must insist on giving her something.
I had a long talk with Clive Wigram yesterday. We have the entrée at the Palace. The King apparently wants me to attend him in July, but I am trying to get out of it. He is a little doubtful about Princess Mary paying us a visit, but is going to leave it to herself. I talked much to C. Wigram about Brian
Lawrence of Arabia proposed to lunch with me yesterday and then never turned up. I had a busy afternoon, and went early to bed for I was very tired.
This morning I have been round the park with the P.M. and had a quite interesting breakfast. Fleming is lunching with me to talk plans. It is the Air debate in the House, and I will probably give Circe tea.
Remind Webb that I come back tomorrow by the train which gets in at 10.10. I have certainly had a very hustled week.
Much love.
