St . Stephen's House, London, S.W.1.

14th March, 1934.

My own darling

I have just got your letter at my office. I am glad Alice is in good form. I expect to hear from her about lunch tomorrow. Tell her, in case I do not see her, that Gavin Hamilton of Dalziel is addressing Members of the House of Commons next week. They asked me first to take the Chair and then to move the resolution, but I feel that as Lord High Commissioner I can scarcely do that.

I had an interesting luncheon with Harold Baker yesterday. He wants to come to us some time in April. His rooms in Albemarle Street are very dingy. Austen Chamberlain was extraordinarily good at our Group dinner.

My talk with the Prime Minister this morning was rather especially interesting. I really believe that I am beginning to do him some good. I have the Hodder-Williams lunching today, and we have a long evening in the House over foreign affairs.

I hope old William is getting on well.

Much love to my little daughter and you all .

From John
