St. Stephen's House,
London, S.W.1.

7th February, 1934.

My own little darling

I hope you and William got home safely and are having
pleasant weather at Elsfield. Spring is in the air, but it is
still pretty cold, as I know from my before-breakfast walks .

Everyone seems to have been delighted with the dinner.
Nancy was full of it. She says that her boy David speaks more enthusiastically
about you than he has ever been known to speak
about any woman before, and she hopes you will continue to be kind
to him.

I have not yet seen the P.M. or heard anything.

The debate last night on foreign affairs was a rambling
business, except for Austen's speech, which was excellent. What
a position in Paris!

I have a Carnegie Trustees luncheon today, and then must hurry
off to Lucy Masterman's remote flat in Battersea for a Trustee
meeting. I am dining with the Clothworkers, where I have to speak.

Tomorrow I am having a talk with Duncan about Marnie's affairs.

I will be back on Friday, I hope, by the 10.15. Remember
we are sending for John Edgar at three o'clock that afternoon.

Much love.

from
John
