My own darling

I got your letter this morning. I do hope old William
will find the papers suit him. See that he goes to bed early.

I had another damp walk this morning with the Prime
Minister. I am lunching with Harry Betterton to meet Mrs. George
Keppel. Yesterday I had an interesting luncheon with Leo. Prince
Rohan was yery interesting, and he is coming to see me tomorrow.

I duly introduced my Scottish Universities colleague in
the House, and then went to hear Gavin Hamilton of Dalziel. He is
a most impressive fellow. He is anxious to come to Holyrood if
he can, but Whitsuntide week is rather full of racing. Harry
Rosebery, too, was there.

Courtauld Thomson's man's dinner in the evening was very
amusing. I send you the table scheme to show the guests. I made
great friends with old Lord Cottesloe, who is a fairly near neighbour
of ours; also with the Headmaster of Eton, whom I thought delightful.
After dinner I talked chiefly to Bertie Lawrence.

Tonight I am dining with the Steel-Maitlands (Boree!
boree!). It is unpleasant but salutary weather.
