St. Stephen's House,
London, S.W.1.

20th February 1934.

My own darling

I do hope you had a pleasant journey and found everybody
well. Alastair rang me up before I left yesterday to say
that Brian was coming down to play against the school next Saturday,
and would Billie and John go over. I told Billie to try and
arrange to go with John on Saturday instead of Sunday. I presume
the little man is not misinformed.

Last evening I went down to the East London College - a
far more picturesque place than I imagined, with behind it the
cemetery which Oliver Cromwell gave to the Portuguese Jews. Rose
Macaulay and a lot of people were there, and the new professor delivered
a most admirable address. I spent a dull evening in the
House.

Today we shall still be on that weary Insurance Bill.
I have no news to send you. Yesterday it looked as if the drought
were coming to an end at last, but today we are back again in
bright frosty weather.

We must make a plan about going to Bowhill. I shall be
at Peebles on Sunday evening, and at the Jew Club on Monday morn-
ing to meet the Purse Bearer. I hope you found my little girl well
and happy. I gave William strict instructions to tell Cast and
Webb about all his movements.

Much love.

from
John
