St. Stephen's House, London, S.W.1.
6th June, 1934.
My own darling
I got your letter this morning. I return Katie's sad little letter. There is nothing to be said about our dear Fred, except that his death makes a terrible gap in the world for both of us. I like George Trevelyan in "The Times" today.
I have accepted the Vice-Chancellor's invitation to dinner on June 16th. I enclose a delightful letter from Alice.
I walked with Ramsay this morning and breakfasted and talked with him. His suspiciousness seems to be growing, and I was really very cross with him. I do not think he will go on much longer.
I am still very sleepy and went to bed early last night. I am dining with Tin tonight.
Much love. from John
