St. Stephen's House, London, S.W.1.

26th June, 1934.

My own darling

Last night was a dull evening in the House with German debts. I had a visit from Major Phillips of the Greyhound Racing Society, who has dismal prognostications concerning Wednesday's debate.

I dined at Knightsbridge Barracks with the Blues - a very nice dinner - Colonel Denis Bowes (the Polo player), Colonel Anderson, the Duke of Roxburgh, Sir Peter Grant Lawson, and young Murray Smith, an extraordinarily good-looking lad. Roxburgh, who seems to have become less of a lout, was full of questions about John.

Today I am lunching with Peter Davies and dining with Lady Meath.

I hope old John got off safely yesterday, and that Billie is getting on well with his exams. to-day.

I enclose a letter from that nice boy Timothy.

Much love.

from John
