St. Stephen's House, London, S.W.1.

8th May, 1934.

My own darling

I left some books on the settee in the hall yesterday, which I meant to send to John Edgar. Would you be very kind and ask Webb to leave them at the Warneford after he takes you to the station tomorrow morning?

I found a great weight of correspondence last night. I had a short talk with the P.M. in the House, and then dined at the Athenaeum with the dignitaries of London University, including Hugh Macmillan and the Archbishop - a very pleasant dinner. I have had two letters from Gran, who sets off for Scotland today.

I have a Reuter meeting this afternoon, and I hope I may find time to dine with The Club .

I went to tea with Lady Halifax yesterday, who was entertaining our University Committee. I gave her your message about the Encaenia, and she says that she and Edward will be very glad to escape to Elsfield and see us.

I do hope you are quite well now and taking great care of yourself. I expect to see Billie at Grosvenor Street tomorrow a little after seven o'clock.

Much love. from John
