St. Stephen's House, London, S.W.1.
19th July, 1934.
My own little darling
I got your letter this morning. Tell John he can write "Italy" i n his passport if he likes, but I don't think it really matters. I will be delighted that Brian should accompany us to the station tomorrow, and then we can come back together in the car. How can I get in touch with him? I think perhaps John and I had better lunch alone at the Club. If Brian could come to St. Stephen's Club at about a quarter past one, we can all go to the station together.
I am so glad to hear that Duggie is better. I like the picture of Alice in " The Sketch".
We had heavy thunderstorms last night, and today it is quite pleasant and cool. I do hope you had some rain at Elsfield.
Yesterday I gave the King of Greece tea at the House , and then Violet Markham came down to see me there. I sat all through the Scottish debate, which did not raise my spirits. But I was inspired to rise and make a quite good little impromptu speech on education.
I am lunching with the Londonderrys today, and have a mass of committee meetings. I expect the old man at St. Stephen's Club tomorrow at twelve o'clock, and I will give him his tickets then.
Much love.
