My dear Mr. Buchan

For many years I have enjoyed your books and
we have the great honor to own a copy of your autographical
edition of the History of the Great War - when I
read this year your "Prince of Captivity", I knew
that you had reached the pinnacle - Never as long
as you live could you write anything greater than
that, and the end of it is the most perfect thing I
have ever read in all my life. If that is not the
summing up of all Jesus taught us two thousand
years ago, we will never find it - Thank you from
the bottom of my heart for the inspiration and the
courage you have given me to live, for dying, as
you say is a very small matter.
