St. Stephen's House, S. W. 1.

15th November, 1934.

I got your letter last night and your postcard this morning. I am deeply distressed about you, my darling. This pain will weaken you a great deal, and your being in bed will hang up all your preparations. I am most awfully sorry for you. I do hope you are better this morning. I shall ring up shortly.

I had a very pleasant dinner at Brighton last night at the Oxford Society. Sir William Campion, the former Governor of Western Australia, proposed my health, and we had three bishops, Blakiston of Lancing, and a number of old friends. I travelled back comfortably by the 10.25 train.

This morning when I walked with the Prime Minister they were rehearsing the troops and police for Prince George's wedding. The P.M. is in much better form. He did really well at Southampton, and has got his last tooth out.He took a most touching farewell of me, and he entrusted me with some very confidential things to say to the President of the U.S.A.

I have Francis Rodd coming to lunch to talk about America, and then I take the Chair at a big Committee on the School Age at the House of Commons. Your Mother is dining out, but I am going to see her before dinner. After that I dine with my family.
