My own little darling,

I was much relieved to get your wire last night, and I
hope I shall hear from you at Wigan this evening. You are not
getting bad weather, and I hope you are really finding your trip
pleasant and instructive. All the same, I shall be very glad to
hear you are home in Elsfield.

Mother seems to have recovered enough to go to Glasgow
with Anna this week.

The finish of the India debate last night was good. The
Attorney-General and Baldwin were excellent; Winston not so good
- too long and too rhetorical, and he altogether lost the House
before the end.

I have just been to Plesch and had the nurse. They are
both very pleased with me, though I must say the former's inocula-
tions make me very dithery.

I have a lot of appointments to-day, and hope to dine at
The Club this evening. I have not been to it for months.

Ferris wires from America that they are very pleased with
The King's Grace, but want to alter its title.

There is a tremendous upset in the City owing to the fear
that the National Government may break down, but I hope Baldwin's
speech last night reassured them. They say McKenna will have to
resign over the pepper business.
