St. Stephen's House, London, S.W.1.

13th February. 1935.

My own darling

I got your wire last night from Wigan, and I was delighted to get your letter this morning. I am so glad you are having such an interesting time. It was great luck finding Peter Scott. I cannot address this letter until I get your address in the Potteries.

There is not much news here. I have got my way over the Lord High Commissionership, and the Kents are being approached officially. But as they are in the West Indies it will take some time to get a proper answer.

I had a talk with Stuart Bevan in the House last night. He says his wife is very interested in village work. I think we ought to call on her as soon as possible, as he is an extremely good fellow.

I am dining with Tin, I hope, tomorrow. I had a very pleasant dinner at The Club last night, and had long talks with Crewe, Clive Wigram, and George Trevelyan.

Ferris wires from America that they are delighted with my book. I am lunching with Hodder today.

I saw Humphry Milford in the club yesterday, and he said that Arabella was selling very well. I told him about The Freedom Garden, and he seemed to think he might be able to make arrangements for taking it over.

Mother went with Nan to a dinner in Glasgow and seems to

have enjoyed herself.

The Londonderrys had an inspection of wedding presents yesterday afternoon, but I couldn't manage to go.

I will be back by the first train on Friday. Tomorrow I will write to you at Elsfield.

Much love, and take great care of yourself.
