My own darling
The Prime Minister is in bed with 'flu, so I was spared telephonic communications. I was delighted to get your letter this morning. I shall welcome the sight of a restored Alastair when I return tomorrow morning by the first train. I will talk to you about John Gilmour's boy this weekend.
I had a letter from Sir Henry Fairfax-Lucy inviting me to be his guest at his annual regimental dinner, and calling me by my Christian name!!!
I lunched yesterday with Alexander Grant, and had a most interesting talk. I went to see your mother before dinner, and found her quite well, and Marnie apparently recovered. Harold's dinner was delightful. We really must have Algie [ST: Alger[n]on] Cecil down to stay with us. I had forgotten how interesting he is. I enormously liked Margaret Kennedy's husband, David Davies.
I have a fairly quiet day today. I wish I could get better news of my Mother. Clearly I must go up some time next week.
Plesch's illness has almost completely deprived him of any command of the English language!
Poor Godfrey Locker-Lampson has lost his wife.
Much love.
