Having so enjoyed your book "Oliver Cromwell" I take the liberty of writing to praise and compliment you on such a splendid contribution to literature and history.

Your reference to some of my ancestors (p.p.183 & 373) amused and interested me, particularly, after turning up a book on the family and finding much additional information picture of Sir James Lumsden etc. They certainly were "bonnie fighters" in those days, or perhaps we would

today refer to them as "stout fellows".

I am curious to know whether in the preparation of your book you had looked over the book referred to: "Memorials of the Lumisdaine or Lumsden families" by Lt-Col H.W. Lumsden. Published by David Douglas Castle Street Edinburgh in 1889?
