20th June, 1936.

The Rt Honble W. Mackenzie King, M.P., Laurier House, Ottawa.

I have just got your telegram. You have been extraordinarily considerate towards me. I was, of course, very willing to come at any moment to close Parliament that you thought right. But since the date is so vague I am grateful for your decision. It has enabled me today to entertain the Presbyterian delegation, and it will enable me next Tuesday to go to the Lieutenant-Governor's birthday party, which I should have been sorry to miss.

May I send you my warmest congratulations on your speech on international affairs, which you made in the House on Thursday? I consider it the best and wisest thing said on the subject - better than anything at home, because far more fully reasoned and more perfectly phrased. It is a great performance and I should like to see it published as a pamphlet.

Yours ever,
