I must send you a line of congratulations on the close of your first session. It has been a heavy time for you, but you have managed it brilliantly and, to an outside observer like myself, you seem to have got through a great deal of valuable work. I hope Dunning's proposal for a National and Provincial Council will be well taken up. I am greatly interested in your appointments to Washington and Tokio. Marler I do not know, but Andrew Bruce is an old friend of mine. He is a gallant old fellow to take on the job at his age and with his physical disabilities.

And now I hope you are going to have a real rest. Even if you go to Europe in September will you not be able to go for that week's yachting with me in British Columbian waters in August, which I proposed? It will be a delightful holiday for us both.

My family leave for home today, to my great regret. They have had a most happy time and have received infinite kindness. They are going back enthusiasts for all things Canadian. I cannot express to you how grateful I am for what you yourself have done for them.

sort of chill has stirred up the old digestive trouble I got from my operation in the War. So I am resting a good deal, and living on milk and Vichy; but I hope to be all right in a few days.
