May I send my hearty congratulations to you & Mrs. Buchan? It might to be great fun, as well as very serviceable. I am sure Canada is to be equally congratulated.

And may I thank you - at last in writing - for the portrait of John. It shows the handsome youth - but hardly the

rare spirit? But I am told the original picture does do so.

I had a charming letter from him a few days ago. He asked me to look up Bill. We shall hope to see more of him.

I don't know whether you know Martin Grainger (a Cambridge man), of Vancouver City, for some time Head of the Forestry Department of B.C. He is as straight as a die; & what he doesn't know about B.C. I should think is not worth knowing.
