Dear Buchan

I am, first, delighted, &, afterwards
much cast down. You will of course
be a supreme representative of the King:
the captain and chief of all Governor Generals.
You will cajole & win all Canada
& move in a mounting & widening
popularity. In short it will be
alright for you. What about
the rest of us? What about the
School Age Council?

I have found consolation in two
reflections. One that your going
will make you resolve that the school
age must be raised immediately; the
other that I shall perhaps be invited
when I next visit Canada to stay
with the Governor General!
(This is what is called asking for it!)

All this is of course chatter.
