REDDINGS, LONG CRENDON, AYLESBURY, BUCKS
March 29th / 1935
Dear Mr Buchan
Allow me, please, to congratulate you very cordially upon your appointment. If England is the loser, Canada is fortunate beyond her most ambitious dreams. But I hope it does not mean that you will be away from the country you have made your own very long.
May I take this opportunity of telling you how greatly I enjoyed your book? Your descriptions of this neighbourhood were more than just and discriminating - they were a projection of yourself into the countryside.
What will altar and [summerhouse?] and the little manor do without you?
Kindest regards from us both to Mrs Buchan.
Sincerely yours,
H.J. Massingham
