My dear John,
I was so delighted to see about your appointment. The days of "The Watcher" & "The Lodge" & "Prester John" come vividly back. I am not certain that in those days you did not encourage me in the direction of startling, if futile, conspiracies against all form of order. However, you can trust me to say nothing about that, nor to call public attention to our habit (which I hope you still indulge in) of shouting "Aá-aá-aábeokútá", in moments of rapture, to the tune of "who is Silvia". I assure you again, my mouth is sealed.
With all precious wishes & my love to Susie,
Yrs v. sincerely
Guy Ridley
