I must call you by the old familiar name when writing to tell you with what very deep interest I have followed all that the papers tell me of you, & how very warmly I congratulate you on having this new opportunity of sharing what you will do for the Empire. I am so glad you have been chosen after carrying the flag in Edinburth, &

though I realize that you & Susie must lose a great deal by Crossing the Atlantic, still I trust you will find compensation in the interest created by the work. I feel certain that you will return home crowned with laurels.
