Stair A. Gillon, Esq., New Club, Edinburgh.
My dear Stair,
My warmest thanks for your kind letter. I am going to call myself Tweedsrnuir, which I think is the best, on the whole. Heaven knows I never wanted a peerage, but His Majesty seemed to think it essential.
We must have a walk, or at any rate a crack, before I go. I shall be in Scotland on Saturday, June 15th. What about lunching at the New Club at one o'clock?
Yours ever, John
