St. Stephen's House, London, S.W.1.
11th July, 1935
My own darling
I safely received your letter. I can manage the Connaught's luncheon on the 25th (the day of the Buck. House [ST: Buckingham Palace] garden party), and Circe's dinner on the 26th, and have accepted both. Is it the 27th when we are dining and going to a play at Stratford?
I have been horribly seedy the last day or two, and I think it is the result of my teeth. Plesch has given me a new medicine. He says this has nothing to do with the old ailment.
The luncheon to the Canadian schoolboys was delightful yesterday , and I made quite a good speech. Then I went to a party for an older lot of students at Pat Hodgson's. I had a most interesting tea with Hitchcock [ST: the film producer], and he was very helpful. He wants Billie to begin with him some time in September.
Remind Webb again that I return on Friday (tomorrow) by the 1.45, arriving at Oxford at three o'clock. I have to dine with Queenborough tonight.
Much love
from John
