Government House.
Ottawa.

8th November, 1935.

The Honble Mrs. Norman Grosvenor.

My dearest Tin

I must just send you a short line; first to thank you
for our last week with you, when you were wonderfully kind. I
really enjoyed it enormously. Second, to tell you that we are really
comfortably settled down now, and I am getting into my work. We got
a marvellous reception, both at Quebec and Ottawa. I feel rather a
fool when the papers praise me for the beauty of my voice and the
purity of my French accent!

I was very tired when we arrived, but our household physician
has given me a strict regime, and I lie down for two hours every
afternoon. I am already feeling immensely better. I hope soon to
be putting on weight.

I think we shall all love this life, for the people could not be
nicer, and we are a very happy and well-agreed household.

My best love to you all. We will soon begin to look forward
to your visit.

Your most affectionate
John
