My own most precious
I got another letter from you last night - & from Gran & Nan & Alastair. I am so very sorry I worried you about Gran - I might have known you would never be negligent. She forgets things, for she is pretty old, and she is in great distress, for she has lost all her rings!
You must be very busy, my poor darling. I am sorry about Mrs Hemmings. Your will has to change about her cottage. Franklin, the solicitor, will help you.
I so hope Billy has got over his chill, and that you managed to get to Scotland. Alastair wrote very cheerfully. I miss him greatly here
To day is the same marvellous weather - frosty nights and days like a tonic June. There is no question about the success of this trip. They say I have taken the place of H.M. in the hearts of the West!!! I had a heavy day yesterday, three enormous Canadian Club lunches. Then 2 schools. Then a huge

meeting of the Historical Association and the Authors' Society, They showed a film of the Indian function at Carlton, and it is exciting to see again the G.L.F. (the "gentle little face" of B.M.). Then a big gathering of soldiers at the Armoury. Then a big dinner, and lastly a huge Scots gathering, where I heard Scots songs beautifully sung. Altogether about 6 speeches! To day I am lunching with the Mounties, and then going a tour with the mayor round the different Central European clubs, & then broadcasting an address to the Saskatchewan farmers.
I am wonderfully well. I await with deep interest your letter about S.B. I hate you having Xmas at sea, but you will have Billy & Carola.
Much, much love, my own one
