GOVERNOR-GENERAL'S TRAIN CANADA
Montreal
June : 16 : 37
My own dearest Mother
As you see I am on my travels again. This letter is only written to catch a possible post, for I have no news. I was very busy for the last two days with arrears of home letters, and with getting off the corrected slip proofs of Augustus. Yesterday the "Emperor of Australia" brought back many of our Canadian delegates, all

bubbling over with enthusiasm about the Coronation. My Prime Minister does not return till after I leave for the West.
I have been having long confidential talks with representative French Canadians, for the situation in Quebec is not easy and I am afraid the Church may take a false step. My Cardinal has been ill and away, but he is better, and I am going to

have a head-to-head-talk with him on Saturday.
Susie is addressing the Women's Institution Conference here to day. To night I am the guest of the Jubilee dinner of the Canadian Engineers, and hope to see many British friends, like Sir Alexander Gibb. To morrow I am the guest at the American-Canadian luncheon at Kingston, and am being broadcast to the whole continent. These

broadcasts are a nuisance, for they prevent me from ever being able to repeat myself.
I had a most interesting letter yesterday from the Palace. The King & Queen, so far from being fatigued by the Coronation, have been enormously stimulated by it.
I am very well, & I hope you all are the same
Much love
from
John
