P.S. It is now two years since you appointed the other three members - Richardson, Elkan, Longstaff: unless I hear to the contrary, I shall understand that it is your wish that they continue.

Dear Lord Tweedsmuir,

Under the constitution of the O.U. Exploration Club you nominate an undergraduate member of the Expedition Council of the Club. The last man has gone down and J.C.G. SUGDEN, Jesus is Chairman; he is an experienced man, having been in Greenland last year, and in my opinion very sound. H.G. VEVERS is also a first class man. It is possible that Sugden may be taking an active part in another Greenland expedition, and in that case another, say Ververs, should take his place on the Council when the affairs of the Greenland expedition are being considered. May I suggest Sugden as a good nomination, and that the other members of the Council may co-opt Vevers when needed?

I hope you are now in good health.

The Club is very active, as you will gather from the annual repor t which I have just got finished and issued .

Yours sincerely,

Kenneth Sandford

3rd November, 1937.

Kenneth Sandford, Esq., University Museum, Oxford .

Dear Mr. Sandford,

I have your letter of 23rd October. I think it would be an excellent thing if Mr. J. C. G. Sugden became undergraduate member of the Expedition Council of the Exploration Club, and that Mr. Vevers should be co-opted when needed. I should like the other three members of the Council to continue, if they are willing.

I read with great interest the Annual Report, on which I warmly congratulate you.

Yours sincerely,
