It was most good of
you, amid so many activities, to find time to
write me one of the pleasantest letters I have
ever received. I little dreamed twenty years ago
when, in hospital or on the Somme, I happily
forgot the present over "The Watcher by the Threshold"
and "Greenmantle", that I was to owe you this
