Native Mounted Police Camp
Fitzroy 15th. November 1859.

Sir,
I do myself the honor
to inform you that about
5 P.M. on the afternoon
of the 12th. inst., Mr. John
McCartney, came to this
Camp, and stated to one
that at about noon on that day
a man named "Parrant"
in the employ of J. A. Mc
Cartney Esq. of Glenmore
had been murdered by
the Blacks, and that he
himself he believed only
escaped a similar fate
by swimming the Fitzroy
River, having been employed
Shepherding at the same
place as the man Parrant
