Summary: Benjamin D. Swanegan, 108th USCI, Co. H. He died on September 15, 1865 in Meridian, Mississippi due to inflammation to the kidneys. Ben was enrolled and mustered on July 6, 1864 in Louisville, KY. He became 1st Sergeant. Martha Ann (Carpenter) Swanegan was the widow pensioner. She and Ben were married on December 25, 1849. They were married by Squire Carpenter. Ben and Martha Ann had three children: Charles W. (1855), Emily M. (1858), and Hannah A. (1866). Ben had two widows: Martha Ann and Emily Swanegan, he and Emily had no children together. Deposition from Walter Browning and Henry Mount on page 31.
