Summary: Widow, Melissa (Tilman) Graham. Residents of Woodford County, Kentucky. Melissa and Charles Graham had no children under sixteen years of age. Charles died of Inflammation of the Lungs or Brain Fever. He was enslaved by R.F. Johnson (Richard). Charles Willis, a Sergeant of the same Regiment, gives an accounting how the large number of men and the lack of governmental accommodations, led to Charles Graham sleeping on the ground during the wintry months, which directly caused his illness and death. Deposition from James M. Botts and R.F. Johnson on pages 19-20.

Summary: Applicant Melissa Graham is the widow of Charles Graham, a Private in Company K 124th Regiment USCT infantry. She is a resident of Woodford, Kentucky. Charles was enrolled on 8 March 1865 and died at Camp Nelson, Kentucky from Inflammation of the Lungs on 3 April 1865. The testimony of his Sergeant supports this. Due to insufficient protection from the rain he contracted his disease and was sent to the hospital and died. Eye witnesses prove their marriage but the date is not recollected. There were no children under sixteen years of age. Document was admitted on 8 September 1868 with a pension for $8 commencing on 4 April 1865.

Summary: Malissa Graham, resident of Woodford, Kentucky, aged 45 years old, states she is the widow of Charles Graham who was a Private in Company K 124th Regiment USCT. Malissa states her maiden name was Tilman and that she married Charles at Richard Johnson's house in Woodford, Kentucky. They were married by Patrick Holladay, a colored preacher. Charles Graham died at Camp Nelson, Kentucky on 3 April 1865 of Brain Fever. Malissa has been unable to procure the evidence of cause of death. However, she has an affidavit from A. Jackson. She further states that none of her children were under sixteen years of age at the time of her husband's death. Witnesses R.F. Johnson and Alexander Jackson state they were present at the marriage. They further state that Charles was of sound health. Alex Jackson states that he was present when Charles died of Brain Fever. R.F. Johnson signed the document and Alexander Jackson left his mark.
