Summary: Widow, Mary Ann (Jenkins) Issam and Jordan were residents of Fayette County, Kentucky. They had two children: Martha (1853), James (1857). John Alford was their former enslaver at the time that Mary Ann gave birth to their son James. Previously, Mary Ann was enslaved by Patsy Jenkins. At the time of her marriage, Mary Ann was known as Mary Ann Gray. Also, enslaved with Jordan and Mary Ann on the same plantation, were slaves Issam Issam and Ed. Issam. Deposition from Mary Ann Issam on pages 7-8 and 16-17. Amos Knox on page 17, Essick Harrison on page 18, Issam on page 20-21, and John Alford on pages 21-23.

Summary: Mary Ann Issam is the widow of Jordan Issam, a Private in Company I 124th Regiment USCT infantry, and residents of Fayette, Kentucky. Jordan was enrolled on 26 April 1865 and died in the Post Hospital at Camp Nelson, Kentucky on 24 September 1865. The claimant shows inability to find a surgeon or officer of the regiment. The testimony of the 1st Sergeant of the Company, and of a comrade show that the soldier was free from disease when he enlisted. He contracted Camp Diarrhea and died on 15 October 1865. Testimony of John Alford, the former master of Mary Ann Issam, formerly Gray, that she and Jordan were married in the Spring of 1840. The following children are listed, Martha born 10 November 1853, and James born 6 February 1857. Issued certificate for $8 per month commencing 24 September 1865.

Summary: Mary Ann Issam, aged 39 years old and a resident Fayette, Kentucky, states her husband Jordan died at Camp Nelson, Kentucky on 15 October 1865 of Camp Diarrhea. She states that she married Jordan in Garrard, Kentucky in 1840. Her name before her marriage was Mary Ann Jenkins. They were married by an old negro preacher named Dave Robinson. She states they have two children, Martha and James.
