Summary: George Lancaster, 122nd USCI Co. I. He died on January 8, 1865 of pleurisy in New Albany, Indiana. He also went by “George Hopkins.” The pensioner was George’s widow, Laura (Philips) Lancaster. She lived in Nelson County, Kentucky. George and Laura had one child together, Georgianna, who was 7 months when George died. George was drafted on September 19, 1864 in Lebanon, KY. On December 7, 1871, Laura Lancaster remarried to Richard Blair. She was dropped from the pension roll due to her death on May 1, 1914. George suffered from headaches, pneumonia, and pleurisy which led to his death. Before the war and according to Edmund Thomas, George was married to a woman named Belle Hay. Edmund further stated that Belle and George had one child, but both the child and wife died after George died.
