Found Wilmot mentioned in Forest and Stream, 1887: https://books.google.ca/books?id=StgwAQAAMAAJ&pg=PA194&lpg=PA194&dq=1887+new+york+publication+forests+and+streams&source=bl&ots=8WfOrsiXUN&sig=ACfU3U2NDv2c_RKVmWQ6aELlxyZ7Vf1_Ew&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiIzfyO6J3qAhUNlXIEHcXrC0UQ6AEwA3oECAkQAQ#v=onepage&q=wilmot&f=false

Thanks for the link! Wilmot published several articles in this American publication. Do you know what part of the page or the title of the piece? The link goes to a large page view, so it is hard to find. I'd be interested in reading it!

Hello, I just now found a higher quality scan on biodiversitylibrary.org for Forest and Stream, Sept. 22, 1887, page 169. Please let me know if this link works: https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/43753632#page/182/mode/1up

Thanks, yes that worked. It looks to be an extract from one of Wilmot's fish-culture reports published in the fisheries department's annual reports. These reports are quite useful for our transcriptions as they refer to details which we sometimes transcribe; for example, the description of capturing adult Atlantic salmon and then towing them in scows using horse-teams upriver, which appeared in one of the account descriptions that Wilmot wrote.
