affect them. At night we were going to the pictures but we couldn't get in. I bought a table in Naples £2. We played cards and watched for a volcano, Stromboli, but it only smoked (11:00). I decided not to swap rooms, Gina swapped beds, much better. It was lovely and warm.

deck to the pictures cause I thought we were supposed to see another girl there. We were asked if we would take her around with us. Doreen - she wasn't there. I went in it was a film on Australia and one on New Z. but they weren't much good and I left early and went and lay down again. Went to dinner and felt better. Played quoits. After ten we went to see Dear Brigette. It was very funny. We came up to write letters but talked a lot. Cold. Everyone is grumbling about having nothing to do there are 365 children on board but not many people

our age. Had a bath. It was lovely & hot.

Saturday. 11th. * Got up late went for breakfast went straight to watch the keep fit. (Posted a letter to [ina?] not enough postage). It was funny. Anna & I started to laugh & everyone else started to laugh. One of the sailors was laughing so much & the tears were rolling down his cheeks & he was leaning on the music stand & it broke. We went up to the deck gymkhana with Gina & Mrs S. It was a laugh too. Potato Race, Ball and Chair race, relay race. with a ball pass underneath & jump over em all

stepping stone with three bricks, tug of war, obsticle race, shoes in net, under net. Very funny. Came in to write letters. Went to lunch. Went up on deck to watch landing at Port Said. All the little boats came around. Bought a laundry basket, 5/- Found out we could get off. Did so, went round a bit of Port Said bought a straw hat 2/-. Everyone was buying camels. Up on deck watching again & teasing them. Went down & got ready for dinner. Wrote a couple of letters. Went to Gulli Gulli [cunjuring] quite good but not much. Couldn't find
