Ben W. Brumfield

I'm not entirely sure the first surname is "Smith", but it's hard to imagine it being anything different.

Ben W. Brumfield

The small letters following "East" in Thomas East have been transcribed as "Gent" (for "gentleman"), but might be "Sen" (for "senior").

Ben W. Brumfield

The word following "East" might be "Senr" with a superscript "r".

It seems possible that the Thomas East mentioned here is the same Thomas East who appears in the East Civil War Letters.
