130 ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF GREENVILLE.

and water supply, whenever required by the City Council,
to make proper connections with such sewer, and to sup-
ply a suitable fixture in the way of closets, urinals or
slop sinks to accommodate the number of people resid-
ing or employed on said premises.
SEC. 2. Whenever in the opinion of the City Council,
Board of Health and City Engineer the same shall be
necessary, the said City Council shall give notice in writ-
ing to said owner, his agent or tenant, that such connec-
tion must be made and such fixtures provided, and pre-
scribe the time within with the same shall be done,
which shall not be more than sixty nor less than fifteen
days; and if such owner, agent or tenant shall willfully
fail or neglect to complete the same within the time
specified, he shall be liable to the penalty prescribed in
Section 29 of an Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance fix-
ing and regulating the use of sewers by private parties
in the city of Greenville, S. C" ratified June 1st, 1892,
and the City Engineer shall proceed to put said work in
with the sewer force, or cause it to be done, for which
purpose he shall have ingress and egress to said prem-
ises, and the city shall be entitled to recover all expenses
for labor and material from said owner in any court of
competent jurisdiction : Provided, however, That the said
City Council may enforce any or all the provisions of this
Section without the concurrence of the Board of Health
and City Enginer, or either.
SEC. 3. Whenever in the opinion of the City Council,
or Board of Health they shall consider any privy or
privies prejudical to the public health, the said City
Council shall give notice to the said owner, his agent or
tenant that such privy or privies must be removed within
-- day after such notice; and any owner, agent or tenant
not removing said privy or privies shall be brought before
the Mayor and fined for each day that said privy or privies
are not removed the sum of five dollars until said privy
or privies are removed.
