ton or other person having charge of the burial grounds
in which it is proposed to bury such dead body, when
ever such burial is within the limits of the city, under
penalty of twenty-five dollars for every failure neglect
so to do, and for any and every violation of the provisions
of this Section.

SEC. 9. No sexton or other person having charge of
any cemetery or other bnria! ground shall inter, or permit
to be interred, any dead body therein, until he shall
have first received from the person in charge of the body
such certificate and burial permit as he is required by
the Ordinance to deliver with such dead body; and it
shall be the duty of such sexton or person in charge of
the burial places to enter said certificate and burial permit
in a book to be furnished to him for that purpose ;
and to deliver the original certificates and burial permits
each day, as received, to the Chairman of the Board of
Health or to the City Clerk; and for every violation hereof
he shall be subject to a fine not exceeding fifty dollars.

Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty four.

AN ORDINANCE to Insure the Better Policing of the
City of Greenville and to Protect the Public Health.

SEC. 1. That from and after the ratification of this
Ordinance it shall be the duty of heads of families or
other persons living on or occupying lots in the city of
Greenville, forthwith to remove from their premises on
which they live or occupy, all filth, dirt or rubbish likely
to cause sickness, and immediately, to put and keep their
yards, drains, cellars, vaults, privies, stable lots and
other appurtenances in good, healthy and clean order.

SEC. 2. That all persons owning or having in charge
any unoccupied real property in the city of Greenville
shall forthwith remove therefrom all filth, dirt or rubbish
likely so cause sickness, and keep the same in good,
