may hereafter be owned, by the City of Greenville, one-
half of the price thereof must be paid in advance and
the balance due therefor secured by a note to be ap-
proved by the Finance Committee.

SEC. 2. That upon the payment of the cash portion
thereof, as aforesaid, it shall be the duty of the said City
Council to give to said purchaser, if he or she should de-
sire it, a bond obligating itselfto execute good and suf-
ficient titles to said lot of land upon the payment of
the said note at maturity.

Done and ratified, in Council assembled, this fourth
day of October, in the year of our Lord one thous-
[L.S.] and eight hundred and ninety-two and in the one
hundred and seventeenth year of the sovereignty
and indpendence of the United States of America.

AN ORDINANCE TO REQUIRE REAL ESTATE OWNERS TO
MAKE CONNECTION WITH THE CITY SEWERAGE SYS-
TEM.

SECTION 1. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Aldermen of
the City of Greenville, in Council assembled, and by au-
thority of the same, That it shall be the duty of each
owner of real estate on sany streeet, alley or public square
in the City of Greenville which is provided with a public
sewer and water supply, whenever required by the city
Council, to make proper connections with such sewer
and to supply a suitable fixture or fixtures in the way of
closets, urinals or slop sinks to accommodate the num-
ber of people residing or employed on said premises.

SEC. 2. Whenever in the opinion of the City Council,
Board of Health and City Engineer the same shall be
necessary, the said City Council shall give notice in
writing to said owner, his agent or tenant, that such
connection must be made and such fixtures provided,
and prescribe the time within which the same shall be
done, which shall not be more than sixty nor less than
