AN ORDINANCE to amemend "an ordin-ance to supress faro banks and gaming tables within the city of Greenville."
Be it ordained by the mayor and aldermen of the city council of Green-ville and by the authority of the same.
That section 3 of an ordinance en titled, "an ordinance to suppress faro banks and gaming tables within the city of Greenville," be and the same is hereby amended by striking out Sec. 3 thereof and inserting in lieu thereof the following, to be known as-
Sec. 3. That it shall be unlawful for any person or persons, within the in-corporate limits of the city of Green-ville, to play at any of the aforesaid games, or at any other game of hazard, for money or other stake and any per-sons convicted of violating this pro-vision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined not exceeding thirty dollars or be imprisoned not ex-ceeding thirty days, either or both, at the discretion of the mayor or acting mayor.
Done and ratified in council assem-bled, this 4th day of Feb-ruary, 1896.

AN ORDINANCE to prohibit the sale of intoxicating Drinks within the incorporate limits of the City of Greenville, except as provided for by same [law]
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Greenville, in council assembled, and by the author-ity of the law;
Section I That from and after the passage of this Ordinance it shall be unlawful for any person or persons to sell, eitger as principal or agent, assist in selling, buy or assist in buying, or anywise aid or abet in the sale or traffic in intoxicating liquors within the incorporate limits of the City of Grenville, except as provided for by law.
And no person or persons required by the city to testify against any other person or persons charged with violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance can be excused from testi-fying upon the ground that said testi-mony will tend to criminate said witness Provided, however, that such testimony shall not be used againset said witness in in any prose-cutions for violating this or any other Ordinance of the City of Greenville, nor shall it be used as the basis for any prosecution.
Sec. II Any persion or persons con-victed of violating any of the provis-ions of this Ordinance shall be liable to a fine not exceeding Fifty Dollars or imprisonment not exceeding Thirty Days, either or both, at the discretion of the Mayor or acting Mayor.
Sec III. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances inconsistent with this Or-dinance and the same is hereby repealed.
Done and ratified in council assembled this the third day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety six, and in the one hundred and twentieth year of the Sovereignty and Independence of the United States of America.
