Notice

As you were advised last month the Greer Plant will be changed from a warping and knitting plant to a weaving plant.

Plans are to install 200 Toyoda Air Jet Looms beginning in February 1981. The installation should be complete in August 1981. These high speed looms will produce wide corduroy fabrics which will be cut at the Piedmont plant in Piedmont, South Carolina and finished at the Delta #3 Plant in Cheraw, South Carolina.

A Toyoda Air Jet Loom has been set up for observation and preliminary training. Six more looms will be installed the middle of November to begin the training programs for the new jobs.

Warp yarn on loom beams and filling yarn on cones will be furnished by other Stevens Plants. Drawing-in and cloth inspection will be performed here.

The knitting and warping operations will be phased out over the next several months. Plans are to leave the texturing operation as it is.

Meeting will be held within the next few weeks to further inform you of the detailed plans for this plant and for you.
