later he has the finest crop in this country, works high clay, land. My land was heavy loughland the way kind for worms, I want to go to Denton but have yet [inserted above] nothing to go on, Mary like Poor Laurynn worked herself to death. I want to send him out to Willie's as soon as she is able to travel, but she dont want to go. Sorry to hear of Willie To bad health, also your own bad health/ Tell Grandma & Aunt Eliza, I think of them often. Would like to have ou visit us - want to hear you talk once more. I have mind the chance of [?] hearing Uncle once again but trust I may yet hear your voice again. I cannot go to you but you can come to me so come to see us. Nothing would please us etter than to have you spend a while with us. Just now we are passing through a financial panic [?] that chat is simply awful but hope that fool congress will do something yet to save us.

S. F. Trowbridge

Dear Uncle, I recieved your letter and express package on the 9th just, it came through all right I paid Ellen & Sally their respective parts and last Friday Morning in company roith [?] little Trowbridge headed the west bound train for Pilot Point and paid over to the boys & girls into their own hands, thanks [?] part of the money I also have the receipt of each one to show that I have fiath fully performed my duty to them

as to the truthfulness of this you can learn by writing to each or any of them this is why I did not write earlier. I wanted to settle with them. Did Caroline [?] tell you first what I had done? As to Uncle [William?] effects, I want the rule Pa gave him, if it does not conflict with any of your diaries the other children say they want something as mementos. As for the trunks [?] I would like to have them but am not able to buy them. My things are heavy this year. My physician has just told me that my wife had consumption and would not live long unless I got her away from this "Dark land country" So you see I must do something and have nothing to do with, I will have to meet a heavy [?] Bill this fall. Mary has been sick all summer. Had a lie [?] with her nearly all the time but I still had hope as I had a good profiet [profit] from a big cotton crop. But alas in hour of fancial security the enfernal Bole and Army [?] worms made their appearance and swept away all My profeets [profits] as with a Besom [bosom] of destruction and left me with heavy oblications hanging over me. I worked myself and the little boys shamefully all Spring and Summer to feed the cussed women . The boys out in Denton have good crops and are doing extra well. Mr. Harme has a good crop, the worms did not get at him until
