The famous ship, "Old Ironsides."

The U. S. frigate Constitution is one of the most famous vessels of the American Navy. She was first used in the wars against Tripoli. The stories of her battles with the Guerriere, the Java, ships of the British navy thrill the soul of every American Boy.

It is interestying to note that the Constitution was built by George T. C. (Claghorn) Gower, of Greenville, who has done so much for this camp, is a descendent of the Old Claghorn family.

The iron spike and piece of original wood from the old ship were secured secured while the ship was under repairs, by Master D. E. Mcuen, Jr., of Greenville, and kindly given to the camp.

Launched Sept. 29, 1797; designed, at cost of $300,000, by Joshua Humphreys on original lines, adapted for speed and unusual weight of metal delivered in broadside.
