Gold-Bearing Quartz.

We have two specimens of gold-bearing quartz in our lodge, one of
which came from Edgefield County in South Carolina, and the other came
from Grass Valley, California, and was kindly sent to us by Mr. W. L.
Hack, superintendent of the Southern Pacific Railway Co., Sacramento,
California. The gold from Edgefield was kindly given by Mr. J. H. Howard

Your letter of August 7 to Mr. F.L. Burckhalter,
General Manager, has been referred to the writer,

We requested our Superintendent at Sacramento, Cali-
fornia, Mr. W. L. Hack, to secure a stone and ship to you and
he advises me that he has secured a piece of gold-bearing quartz
from Grass Valley, California, and is forwarding tomyou.

what you desire.
