State of Alabama,} Shelby County

TO ANY SHERIFF OF THE STATE OF ALABAMA- Greeting: You are hereby commanded to take the body of Isaac (a slave) if to be found in your county and him safely keep so that you have him before the Judge of our next Circuit Court to be holden for Shelby County , at the place of holding the same, on the ninth Monday after the 2nd Monday in Spetember next, to answer the State of Alabama of a charge of Assault & Battery to murder. as astandas charged by the Grand Jurors for the said county of Shelby. Herein fail not, and have you then and there this writ. Witness, Wilie H. Pope, Clerk of said Circuit Court, at office the 20th day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundren and fifty three and the 77th year of American Independence. Wilie H. Pope Clerk

The State of Alabam in Circuit Court Shelby County At September Term 1852 The Grand Jurors for the State of Alabama empowered, sworn and charged to inquire for the County Shelby on their oath present that heretofore, to sit, on the first day of August A.D. 1852, in the County aforesaid, slave named Issac, then and there the property of one Joseph H Cunningham, about the hours of then o'clock in the night of the same day, in in the County aforesaid, the dwelling house of one Morgan M Haffy then sitmate, feloni= ously and burglarish, did break and enter, with intent the goods, and chattels of the said Morgan Mc Haffy in the said dwelling house then and there being, then and there feloniously and burglariously to steal, take take can carry away, and then and there in the said dwellign house, one trunk of the value of one dollar, and ten pieces of silver coin current by law in this state, each of the denomina tion each of one dollar and of the value of one dollar each, of the goods and chattels of the said Morgan Mc Haffy in the said dwelling house then adn there being feloniously and burglariously did steal, take and carry away, And the Grand Jurors aforesaid on their oath aforesaid do further preclude that Joseph H Cunningham later of said County after the committing of the said burglary, and felony aforesaid, to sit on the tenth day of August A.D. 1852 in the County aforesaid was the master having the charge the said above named Isaac, and being there and then the master having said slave in charge
