The State of Alabama Shelby County In Circuit Court At August Term 1850

The Grand Jurors for the State of Alabama empannelled sworn and charged to inquire for the County of Shelby in their oath present that Sigmund Frank late of said County on the first day of August in the year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty in the County aforesaid did sell a commodity to wit five yards of calico to a slave named Cyntha the property of One David N McClanahan without the leave or consent of the master owner or overseer of said slave verbally or in writing expressing the article permitted to be sold being first obtained contrary to the Statute in such case made and provided and against the peace and dignity of the state of Alabama.

And the Grand Jurors aforesaid on their oath aforesaid do further present that the said Sigmund Frank on the day and year aforesaid in the County aforesaid did sell a commodity to wit five yards of coton cloth to a slave named Aleck the property of David N McClanahan without the leave or consent of the master owner or overseer of said slave verbally or in writing expressing the article permitted to be sold being first obtained contrary to the Statute in such case made and provided and against the peace and dignity of the State of Alabama

And the Grand Jurors aforesaid on their oath aforesaid do further present that the said Sigmund Frank on the day and year aforesaid in the County aforesaid did sell to a slave named Cyntha two yards of cloth, contrary to the Statute in such case made and provided and against the peace and dignity of the State of Albama.

And the Grand Jurors aforesaid on their aforesaid do further present that the said Sigmund Frank on the day and year aforesaid did sell to a slave named Aleck One yard of cloth contrary to the Statute in such case made and provided and against the peace and dignity of the State of Albama Wm Mudd solicitor for 3rd Circt. of Alabama

50 We the Jury find the Defendant Guilty and assess a fine of $25.00
